Screen Media Activities
We study how engagement with screens and digital media—including social media, video games, and streaming—shapes brain development, behavior, and mental health in children and adolescents.
Adolescents today are immersed in digital environments at an unprecedented scale. Our Screen Media Activities research group investigates how different forms of screen-based media use relate to neurodevelopment, cognitive performance, emotional well-being, and behavioral outcomes. Drawing on large-scale cohort studies and neuroimaging data, we aim to disentangle harmful from benign—or even beneficial—patterns of media engagement and identify the developmental windows during which these effects matter most.
